Giulio Camillo Delminio in 1515 conceived a building as a place of memory, where images that represent human knowledge could be placed. His was a treatise on mimesis or the imitation of reality in art. An imaginary wooden building would have made it possible to memorize what was desired with a system of mnemonic associations for images. In fact, seven steps originated from the stage, marked by symbolic images, each divided into seven parts, marked by the seven planets.
